Download Instagram Reels Audio as MP3 – Guide
Last updated: October 25, 2026
Sometimes it is the sound you want, not the video: a song, a voiceover, a speech clip or a sound effect from a Reel. Instagram does not offer a save-audio button for Reels, so this guide shows how to download Instagram Reels audio as an MP3 using the audio downloader on this site, on Android, iPhone and a computer.
The method starts the same way as downloading a Reel, because the audio comes from a specific Reel. You copy that Reel link, paste it into the audio downloader, and save the MP3 from the result. You do not need to install an app, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site. Audio from private, deleted or restricted Reels cannot be downloaded, and some music in Reels is licensed only for use inside Instagram, which affects reuse even when a download succeeds.
Open the Instagram Audio downloader
What you need
You need the link of a public Instagram Reel that contains the audio you want, plus a browser on your phone or computer. The audio is tied to that specific Reel, so a link to a profile, an audio page or the Reels tab will not work. You do not need an Instagram login for the downloader.
Step 1: Open the Reel and copy its link
In the Instagram app, open the Reel, tap the Share arrow and choose Copy Link. Make sure the Reel actually plays the sound you want before you copy the link.
Step 2: Open the Instagram Audio downloader
Open the Instagram Audio downloader in your browser.
Step 3: Paste the Reel link and press Download
Paste the Reel link into the box, check that the full address is there, then press Download and wait for the audio result.
Step 4: Save the MP3
Use the download button on the result card to save the MP3. On Android it usually goes to Downloads. On iPhone it goes to Files first, and you can then share it into a music or files app. On a computer it goes to the browser Downloads folder.
On Android
On Android, copy the Reel link with Share and Copy Link, open the audio downloader in Chrome or another browser, paste the link and press Download. The MP3 usually lands in Downloads, where music players and file managers can find it. If your player does not list it straight away, open it from Files.
On iPhone
On iPhone, open the downloader in Safari. After the file downloads, it does not automatically appear in the Photos app, and this is the point that confuses most people. Safari saves downloads to the Files app, not directly to Photos. Tap the download icon in the Safari address bar, tap Downloads, then tap the file to open it. To move it into Photos, tap Share and choose Save Video for a video or Save Image for a photo. If you only look in Photos and cannot find the file, check Files first, because the download almost certainly succeeded there. If Safari asks where to save, choose Downloads so you can find it again in Files. For audio on iPhone, the Files step matters even more, because an MP3 does not belong in Photos at all. Open Files, tap the MP3 to play it, or share it into the app where you want to keep it.
On a computer
On a computer, copy the Reel link from the browser address bar or from the app, paste it into the audio downloader and press Download. The MP3 saves to the browser Downloads folder, or to the folder you choose if your browser asks. Desktop players make it easy to check the track before you keep it.
Audio quality, length and licensed music
The MP3 you save is the audio from that Reel, so its length and quality follow the original. A short Reel gives a short clip, not a full song, and a voiceover recorded on a phone will sound like a phone recording. There is no way to extend a clip into a full track or to improve it beyond what the Reel contains. If you want the full song, search for it on a licensed music service instead.
Licensed music needs a separate warning. Much of the music in Reels is licensed for use inside Instagram, and downloading the audio does not transfer that licence to you. You can listen personally, but reusing a song in your own video, podcast or commercial project may need a separate licence, even if the download itself worked. Original voiceovers and sounds the creator made themselves are a different case, but permission is still the safe rule.
Troubleshooting
The Reel has no audio result
The Reel may have no usable audio track, or its audio may be restricted. Try another public Reel to check whether the tool works in general.
The link is not a Reel link
Copy the link again from the Reel itself with Share and Copy Link. Profile, audio-page and Reels-tab links will not return audio.
The MP3 is very short
That is the length of the audio in the Reel. A Reel clip cannot be extended into a full song by the downloader.
The file is saved but you cannot find it
On Android, check Downloads. On iPhone, check Files, because an MP3 will not appear in Photos. On a computer, check the browser Downloads folder.
Use downloaded content responsibly
Downloaded audio does not give you ownership of the song or sound. Listen personally, and get permission or a licence before reusing music or someone else voice in your own content. Respect the creator and the rights holder.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download Instagram Reels audio as MP3 on my phone?
Yes. Copy the Reel link, open the audio downloader in your phone browser, paste the link and press Download, then save the MP3.
Do I need to install an app for Reels audio?
No. The downloader works in your browser, so there is nothing to install.
Do I need an Instagram account or password?
No. The downloader does not ask you to log in, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site.
Where is a downloaded MP3 saved on iPhone?
It is saved to the Files app. Open Files to play it or share it into the app where you want to keep it, because an MP3 does not go into Photos.
Why is the MP3 only a short clip?
Because that is the length of the audio in the Reel. The downloader saves the Reel audio, not a full song.
Can I download audio from a private Reel?
No. Audio from private, deleted or restricted Reels cannot be downloaded.
Can I reuse downloaded Reels audio in my own video?
Only if you own it or have permission or a licence. Music licensed for Instagram does not automatically carry over to other uses.
