How to Download Instagram Reels
Last updated: October 06, 2026
Reels are short vertical videos, and Instagram does not give you a simple save-to-device button for most of them. This guide shows how to save a public Reel through your browser on Android, iPhone or a computer.
Open the Instagram Reels downloader
What you need
You need the link of a public Instagram Reel and a browser on your phone or computer. The downloader does not ask you to log in, and you should never enter your Instagram password on any downloader site.
Step 1: Copy the Reel link
In the Instagram app, open the Reel, tap the Share arrow and choose Copy link.
On a computer, open the Reel in your browser and copy the address from the address bar. A Reel link usually starts with instagram.com/reel/.
Copy the link of one specific Reel. Links to a profile, a story or the Reels tab do not work.
Step 2: Open the Instagram Reels downloader
Open the Instagram Reels downloader in your browser.
Step 3: Paste the Reel link and press Download
Paste the link into the box at the top of the page. The Paste button works on supported browsers, or you can paste by hand. Check that the address is complete, then press Download.
Step 4: Save the video
Wait for the result card, then use the download button shown there. If no result appears, see the fixes below.
How to download Instagram Reels on Android
Copy the Reel link in the Instagram app, open the downloader in Chrome or another browser, paste the link and press Download. The saved file usually goes to the Downloads folder, which you can open from the Files app or the download list of your browser.
How to download Instagram Reels on iPhone
Copy the Reel link in the Instagram app, open the downloader in Safari, paste the link and press Download. After saving, tap the download icon in the Safari address bar and open the file from the Files app. To keep it in your photo library, open the video, tap Share and choose Save Video if your phone offers it.
How to download Instagram Reels on a computer
Copy the Reel link from the address bar of your browser, open the downloader, paste the link and press Download. The browser saves the file to its default Downloads folder, or asks where to save it if that option is on.
Reel quality and sound
The saved file is the version that the public Reel provides, and it plays with its sound when the Reel includes it. HD is saved when the Reel offers it, and a low-resolution upload stays low-resolution. For more about quality, see the Instagram video downloader HD.
Why an Instagram Reel may not work
The link is incomplete
Copy the link again from the Share menu and paste it in full.
The Reel is private, deleted or restricted
Private, deleted or region-restricted Reels cannot be downloaded. Check that you can open the Reel without logging in.
The link is not a Reel
Profile, story and search page links do not work. For a normal video post, use the video downloader, and for pictures, the photo downloader.
Try another Reel
If another public Reel works, the problem is with the first Reel, not with your device or browser.
Use downloaded Reels responsibly
Downloading a public Reel does not give you ownership or permission to republish it. Reels can contain music, faces and brand material that belong to other people. Respect the creator's copyright and Instagram's rules, especially when you use a Reel outside personal use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download an Instagram Reel on my phone?
Yes. Copy the Reel link in the Instagram app, open the downloader in your phone browser, paste the link and press Download.
Do I need to install an app?
No. The downloader works in your browser, so there is nothing to install.
Do I need an Instagram account or password?
No. The downloader does not ask you to log in, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site.
Where is the downloaded Reel saved?
It goes to the default download location of your browser. On Android this is usually the Downloads folder, and on iPhone you can find it in the Files app.
Does the downloaded Reel have sound?
The saved video plays with its sound when the Reel provides it.
Why does a Reel link sometimes fail?
The Reel may be private, deleted or restricted, or the copied link may be incomplete. Copy the link again from the Share menu and try once more.
Can I download Reels from a private account?
No. Reels from private accounts are not accessible, so the downloader cannot fetch them.
Can I reuse a Reel I downloaded?
Only if you own it or have permission from the creator. Follow Instagram's terms and the copyright rules where you live.
