How to Download Instagram Photos
Last updated: October 06, 2026
Instagram shows pictures inside the app but gives you no simple way to keep a copy on your device. This guide shows how to save pictures from a public photo or carousel post through your browser.
Open the Instagram photo downloader
Single photos and carousel posts
A single photo post has one picture. A carousel is one post with several pictures that you swipe through. Both work the same way here: you paste the link of the post, and the result shows the pictures that were found.
Step 1: Copy the post link
In the Instagram app, open the post, tap the three dots or the Share arrow and choose Copy link.
On a computer, open the post in your browser and copy the address from the address bar.
A photo or carousel link usually starts with instagram.com/p/. Copy the link of one specific post, not a profile or a story.
Step 2: Open the Instagram photo downloader
Open the Instagram photo downloader in your browser.
Step 3: Paste the post link and press Download
Paste the link into the box at the top of the page. The Paste button works on supported browsers, or you can paste by hand. Check that the address is complete, then press Download.
Step 4: Save the pictures you want
The result lists the items that were found in the post. Save the ones you want, one by one.
How to download Instagram photos on Android
Copy the post link in the Instagram app, open the downloader in Chrome or another browser, paste the link and press Download. The saved file usually goes to the Downloads folder, which you can open from the Files app or the download list of your browser.
How to download Instagram photos on iPhone
Copy the post link in the Instagram app, open the downloader in Safari, paste the link and press Download. After saving, tap the download icon in the Safari address bar and open the file from the Files app. To add a picture to your photo library, open it, tap Share and choose Save Image.
How to download Instagram photos on a computer
Copy the post link from the address bar of your browser, open the downloader, paste the link and press Download. The browser saves the file to its default Downloads folder, or asks where to save it if that option is on.
Photo quality
You get the best image the public post provides. Instagram compresses uploads, and if the original was small, the saved file cannot be sharper than that.
What if a carousel does not work?
Check that the post is public
Private, deleted or region-restricted posts cannot be downloaded. Check that you can open the post without logging in.
Is the link a video or a Reel?
No pictures appear for a video post. Use the Reels downloader or the video downloader for those.
Copy the link again
An incomplete link is a common cause. Copy it again from the Share menu and paste it in full.
Wait for the result
A post with many pictures can take longer to load. Keep the page open until the pictures appear.
Respect photo copyright
Photos can show other people and can contain artwork or brand material that belongs to someone else. Saving a picture for personal use is one thing, but reposting it without permission can break copyright and privacy rules. Follow Instagram's terms and the law where you live.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download all photos from an Instagram carousel?
Yes, when the post is public. The result shows the items that were found so you can save the ones you want.
Can I download a single Instagram photo?
Yes. Paste the link of the photo post, press Download and save the image from the result.
Which quality will the downloaded photo have?
You get the best image the public post provides. If the original upload was small or heavily compressed, the saved file cannot be sharper than that.
Do I need an Instagram account or password?
No. The downloader does not ask you to log in, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site.
Can I download photos from a private account?
No. Posts from private accounts are not accessible, so the downloader cannot fetch them.
Where is the downloaded photo saved?
It goes to the default download location of your browser. On Android this is usually the Downloads folder, and on iPhone you can find it in the Files app.
Why is my photo link not working?
The post may be private, deleted or restricted, the link may be incomplete, or the post may be a video. Copy the link of one specific post from the Share menu and try again.
Can I reuse a photo I downloaded?
Only if you own it or have permission from the creator. Follow Instagram's terms and the copyright rules where you live.
