Download Instagram Carousel Photos – Full Guide
Last updated: October 25, 2026
A carousel is the Instagram post with several photos or videos you swipe through, shown by the stacked-squares icon and the dots under the first image. Instagram lets you save the post inside the app, but it does not give you a simple way to save each individual photo or video to your device. This guide shows how to download Instagram carousel photos and videos using the carousel downloader on this site.
The method is the same at its core as downloading a single photo: you copy the link of the post, paste it into the downloader, and save the results. The difference is that a carousel returns several items, and you need to save them one at a time. You do not need to install an app, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site. Carousels from private accounts cannot be downloaded.
Open the Instagram Carousel downloader
What you need
You need the link of a public Instagram carousel post, plus a browser on your phone or computer. A carousel link is a normal post link: it points to the post itself, not to a profile or to a single image inside it. You do not need an Instagram login for the downloader, and you should copy the link from the post, not from a screenshot.
Step 1: Open the carousel post and copy its link
In the Instagram app, open the carousel post. Tap the three dots (More) at the top right of the post, then tap Copy Link. Make sure you opened the post itself, not just a preview in the feed.
Step 2: Open the Instagram Carousel downloader
Open the Instagram Carousel downloader in your browser and keep the copied link ready.
Step 3: Paste the post link and press Download
Paste the link into the box, check that the full address is there, then press Download and wait for the result cards to appear.
Step 4: Save each photo and video in turn
Use the download button on each result card. A carousel is a set of items, so work through them in order and save each one you want. On Android they usually go to Downloads. On iPhone they go to Files first, then Share and Save Image or Save Video moves them into Photos.
On Android
On Android, copy the carousel link with the three dots and Copy Link, open the downloader in Chrome or another browser, paste the link and press Download. Save each item in turn. Files go to Downloads, where you can open them from the Files app or the gallery Downloads album. Keep the post link handy until you have saved every item, in case you need to paste it again.
On iPhone
On iPhone, open the downloader in Safari. After the file downloads, it does not automatically appear in the Photos app, and this is the point that confuses most people. Safari saves downloads to the Files app, not directly to Photos. Tap the download icon in the Safari address bar, tap Downloads, then tap the file to open it. To move it into Photos, tap Share and choose Save Video for a video or Save Image for a photo. If you only look in Photos and cannot find the file, check Files first, because the download almost certainly succeeded there. If Safari asks where to save, choose Downloads so you can find it again in Files. For carousels on iPhone, the Files step repeats for every item, which is tedious but reliable: open Files, tap each photo or video, tap Share, and choose Save Image or Save Video. Do not judge the download by Photos alone until you have completed that step for each item.
On a computer
On a computer, copy the carousel link from the browser address bar or from the app, paste it into the downloader and press Download. The browser saves each item to the Downloads folder, or to the folder you choose. A desktop screen makes it easier to check you have saved every slide, especially in a long carousel.
Carousel order, mixed media and quality
Carousels mix photos and videos in a single swipeable post, and the downloader returns them in the same order Instagram serves them. Save them in that order if you want to keep the sequence, and name or move them promptly, because a batch of similarly named downloads is easy to mix up later. Videos in a carousel keep their sound when the original includes it, just as a single video post does.
Quality follows the original upload for each slide. One slide may be sharper than another, because the creator may have uploaded images of different sizes. The downloader saves the version Instagram serves for each item, and it cannot sharpen a low-resolution slide or upgrade a photo beyond what was uploaded.
Troubleshooting
Only the first photo downloads
A carousel is a set of items. Save each result card in turn, rather than expecting the whole carousel to arrive as one file.
You copied a profile link by mistake
Open the carousel post itself, tap the three dots, and choose Copy Link again. A profile address will not return the carousel items.
A video slide has no sound
Check the original slide in Instagram. If the slide itself has no sound, the saved file will not either. If it does, save that slide again.
The files are saved but you cannot find them
On Android, check Downloads. On iPhone, check Files first, then Share into Photos. On a computer, check the browser Downloads folder.
Use downloaded content responsibly
A carousel is still the creator's work, even when it contains several images. Keep downloaded slides for personal use unless the creator has given you permission to share them further, and credit the creator whenever you share with permission.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download all photos from an Instagram carousel?
Yes. Copy the carousel post link, open the downloader, paste the link and press Download, then save each photo or video in turn.
Does a carousel download as one file?
Not usually. A carousel is a set of separate photos and videos, so save each item from its own result card.
Do I need to install an app for carousels?
No. The downloader works in your browser, so there is nothing to install.
Do I need an Instagram account or password?
No. The downloader does not ask you to log in, and you should never enter your Instagram password on a downloader site.
Where are carousel files saved on iPhone?
They are saved to the Files app first. Open Files, tap each file, tap Share, and choose Save Image or Save Video to copy it into Photos.
Can I download carousels from a private account?
No. Carousels from private accounts are not accessible, so the downloader cannot fetch them.
Can I reuse carousel photos I downloaded?
Only if you own them or have permission from the creator. Follow Instagram terms and the copyright rules where you live.
